Course Overview

In the 2-day version of the PAN-201 course, the instructor led students through the process of installing, configuring, managing and troubleshooting Palo Alto Networks next generation firewalls. The updated version of the course is based on the latest release of Palo Alto software and includes far more information for the students.
Course Outline
Students will be introduced to deployment scenarios and the configuration steps for the networking, security, threat prevention, reporting and logging features of PAN-OS, the security-specific operating system that controls every Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall. Additional PAN-OS subjects include SSL decryption, Captive Portal and IPSec VPNs.
Using a combination of instructor lecture, interactive demonstrations and hands-on labs, this class will give students an in-depth understanding of how App-ID, User-ID and Content-ID can enable policy based visibility and control over applications, users and content.

Prerequisites
Students must have a basic familiarity with networking concepts including routing, switching and IP addressing. Students should also be familiar with the traditional role of a firewall in network security. Experience with other security technologies (IPS, Proxy and content filtering) can be a plus.
