EMR & Practice Management for Medical Assistants

In this course you will learn how to utilize three of the top EMR products and you will build your resume strength by mastering the ability to:

• Register & Schedule patients
• Verify insurance eligibility
• Understand how to properly set up and create insurance payers and plans
• Check in patients and collect co-pays & other payments
• Enter vitals, patient history and other key information into the clinical record
• Print and/or process lab, imaging, prescription, referrals and other physician orders and follow up instructions
• Check out patients
• Utilize internal task and messaging systems for staff and patient correspondence
• Manage results tracking to improve patient follow up and decrease lost results / lack of compliance
• Run basic reports
• Understand the relationship of bi-directional interfaces as it applies to workflow changes regarding faxes, lab and imaging results
• Understand and utilize integrated document management features that change the way most inbound and outbound paper is now managed electronically
• Understand how the system processes impact your role as it correlates to other staff roles and responsibilities to effectively manage workflow
