Description

DMPS is a three-day instructor-led technical course that reviews and enforces the system architecture of MeetingPlace v7.0 and how those components integrate into an enterprise network. Use of the MeetingPlace Configuration Tool and other tools in case studies and design scenarios will be emphasized to create solutions that meet common customer MeetingPlace deployment requirements.

Objectives

To provide learners with skills to successfully design Cisco's rich-media conferencing solution appropriate for integration into a customer enterprise network.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  • Assess Cisco Unified MeetingPlace features, capacities, and requirements as they relate to planning a comprehensive customer Cisco Unified MeetingPlace deployment
  • Identify and evaluate customer application, IP telephony infrastructure, and user and conferencing requirements that need to be considered when planning a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace deployment
  • Design a highly available, comprehensive Cisco Unified MeetingPlace deployment plan, given specific customer environments and requirements

Lab 1-1: Identifying Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Architectural Components

In this activity, the learner will learn how to identify Cisco Unified MeetingPlace architectural components and list appropriate software, hardware, and sizes for each. After completing this activity, the learner will be able to meet these objectives:

  • Describe the functions and features of a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace solution
  • Explain the purpose of each of the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace components
  • List each component and the associated sizing requirements

Lab 2-1: Gathering Customer Information In this activity, the learner will learn how to identify key customer information that needs to be documented in order to plan a successful Cisco Unified MeetingPlace deployment, given specific customer conferencing requirements and an IP telephony infrastructure scenario. After completing this activity, the learner will be able to meet these objectives:

  • Describe the information that must be obtained to complete a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace design
  • Know how to categorize this information

Lab 3-1: Sizing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Solutions In this activity, the learner will learn how to gather customer information used to determine the requirements for a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace deployment. After completing this activity, the learner will be able to meet these objectives:

  • Calculate the number of voice, video, and web licenses required
  • Determine which Cisco Unified MeetingPlace components are required
  • Size required equipment
  • Describe the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace components that operate on each piece of equipment

Lab 3-2: Designing Comprehensive Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Solutions In this activity, the learner will learn how to design a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace solution to meet the customer’s needs. After completing this activity, the learner will be able to meet these objectives:

  • Size a solution to meet the customer’s requirements
  • Determine which Cisco Unified MeetingPlace components are required and their locations
  • Size the required equipment
  • Describe the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace components that operate on each piece of equipment

Lab 3-3: Identify and Plan to Turn over Your Design to the Implementation Team In this activity, the learner will learn to list important information that will be provided to the implementation team.

Lab 3-4: Identify Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Design Documentation Components In this activity, the learner will learn how to find all the required documentation resources. After completing this activity, the learner will be able to meet this objective:

  • Determine where the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace 7.0 design documentation is located

Prerequisites

  • Working knowledge of designing converged voice and data networks
  • Working knowledge of designing SIP, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), and H.323 protocols and their implementation on Cisco IOS gateways
  • Working knowledge of designing video basics (suggested training Implementing Cisco Rich Media Communication (ICRMC)
  • Ability to include call control systems in network design (suggested training Cisco IP Telephony 1 or Cisco UCAD)
